Embedding New Ways of Working to Improve Strategy & Operations

RMIT is an Australian public research university with 1 billion dollars in annual revenue and over 85000 students. Our client was an industry engagement team with the core function of getting students into placement opportunities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Neu21 team worked with the Industry Engagement team to help them transition into cross-functional teams and understand, adopt and embed an agile way of working to manage their strategic and operational work.

OUR APPROACH

Working with the team, 90 day planning cycles were introduced and team purpose, vision, values, metrics and DNA were co-designed. A digital visual management solution was created with the team to help them collaborate on the work. Training was also delivered to help them understand how squads (cross-functional teams) operate.

The Results —

Increased cross-functional operation

80% of the team understood their role in squads.

Increase in employee awareness

80% of team agreed that they had a better awareness of the work

Adaptive & agile ways of working

100% of the team agreed that they would recommend this way of working across the university.
